Star Wars Celebration 2025 is heading to Japan

The next Star Wars Celebration will be taking place in Chiba, Japan, in 2025.

As is the custom, the date and location for the next Celebration was announced during the closing ceremony of this year’s Celebration earlier today, and it was revealed that Celebration will be taking place April 18-20, 2025, at the Makuhari Messe in Japan.

It will mark the second time Celebration takes place in Japan (or in Asia in general), and the first since 2008. It’s crazy to think about everything that’s happened in the Star Wars franchise since then, as for just one comparison, that event took place the month before The Clone Wars movie even premiered. So, yeah, it’s been a while!

It will once again be taking place over Easter weekend, which is a bit of an odd choice, but there will be plenty to promote at the time. We had already heard that Celebration would be skipping a year, and in 2025 it will likely mark the beginning of the ramp-up to the next Star Wars theatrical film, which is currently slated to be released on December 19, 2025. A lot can change by then, but Celebration has often been a major vehicle to promote that film and to get the hype rolling, including debuting an initial trailer, and I’m hoping that Celebration 2025 will be a return to that.
