Maya Erskine has reportedly joined the cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi

According to Deadline, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series has added Maya Erskine to the cast! There isn’t any information about who she is playing, but Deadline did report that “she will have a supporting role in at least three episodes.”

Erskine is perhaps best-known for her work on the series PEN15, a series she helped to create, write, and stars in.

She joins a loaded cast for this highly-anticipated series, which begins production this month. The show obviously stars Ewan McGregor in his return to the iconic role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and it stars Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Beyond those two, Moses Ingram is apparently the female lead on the series, while Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse are returning to the roles of Owen and Beru Lars, respectively. Also joining the cast are Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O-Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. Now Maya Erskine has joined the team as well – and it’s possible that others are being kept more under wraps, too.

This is a large and very talented cast for a show that many thought would simply take place on the remote desert planet of Tatooine. But from the moment Hayden Christensen was announced as joining the cast, the show’s scope was blown wide open. While much of it will likely still happen on Tatooine – since, after all, Kenobi has a purpose there – there are plenty of other avenues through which characters will be introduced. And I can’t wait!

It’s great to see this type of talent being cast for the show, which is being directed by Deborah Chow. From a wider fanbase perspective, this is probably the most anticipated show of all of the ones Lucasfilm has announced, and based purely on the cast alone, it looks like it’s going to live up to the hype.
