The recent focus on The Mandalorian in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes continues, with the Dark Trooper arriving to the holotables via a marquee event today!
The Dark Trooper looks like it has a good kit that is quite creative, intending to reflect the fact that these troopers are even more formidable in numbers. The B1 Battle Droid has a similar mechanic in the game, but the Dark Trooper will have its health spread across four troopers, essentially – making it harder to defeat.
The bigger part of the update, however, is that the introduction of the Dark Trooper brings with it a brand new tag: “Imperial Remnant.” In addition to the Dark Trooper, Moff Gideon, Death Trooper, and Stormtrooper are getting the Imperial Remnant tag. Putting the pieces together, that leaves us with four Imperial Remnant characters, so we’ll almost certainly be getting another one soon to round out the squad. I’d be pretty shocked if it wasn’t Scout Trooper, a character players have been wanting for years, whose model is already in-game, and is easily the most logical choice to round out this squad not yet in the game. But this game also opens up doors moving forward, meaning we could get more Imperial Remnant characters. And, well, if some our our speculation about this era proves to be correct, a certain blue-skinned Grand Admiral might wind up gaining the tag eventually, too.
Anyway, there has been quite the focus on The Mandalorian in SWGOH recently, and this is just the latest in that. It feels like we’re due for more, too, as it seems we’re waiting for another Imperial Remnant character – and, well, Bo-Katan Kryze seems like such an obvious choice too.
One last thing I want to mention is that, in a really nice but subtle touch, the Child has disappeared from the character screen for The Mandalorian (Beskar Armor). At first I thought it was a bug, but now I think it’s supposed to be a little tie-in with the arrival of the Dark Trooper. That’s a really cool touch, as was fighting Luke Skywalker aboard Gideon’s cruiser at the end of the event. It’s a well-done event.
