The Super Bowl is always a prime spot for advertisers and promotions, and that includes movies. During the big game tonight on FOX, Lucasfilm premiered a brand new TV spot for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
The 30-second trailer is made up of almost entirely new footage, showing off familiar characters like Indy and Sallah as well as newcomers like the heroic Helena and the villainous Voller. We see action on a train, on horseback, and in a plane, all hyping up the return of one of Hollywood’s most iconic characters.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny hits theaters on June 30, 2023, fifteen years after the previous film made the big screen. The movie will see an older Indiana Jones struggling with the changing times while going up against an old enemy as he races against Nazis to be the first to recover an important artifact during the space race. The film stars Harrison Ford, as Indy, Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena, Mads Mikkelson as Voller, and John Rhys-Davis as Sallah, among a cast that also includes Antonio Banderas, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, and Ethann Isidore.
The movie is directed by James Mangold, making it the first in the franchise not directed by Steven Spielberg. But Spielberg is an executive producer on the film alongside Indiana Jones creator and Lucasfilm founder George Lucas. Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel are producing it, with the iconic John Williams once more returning to provide the score.
