Who were those Imperial Senators seen in The Bad Batch?

In the most recent episodes of The Bad Batch, “The Clone Conspiracy” and “Truth and Consequences”, we got our best look yet at the Imperial Senate. We glimpsed it a few months ago in Andor, but we got to see it in full action in these episodes, seeing Senators debating the Military Recruitment Bill.

Arguing against the bill were three prominent Senators, and if you were watching it thinking that they looked familiar, or just wondering who they are, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a brief refresher on these three main Senators who advocated in favor of the clones. We’ve seen all three of them before.

Bail Organa

First, and most obviously, is Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan. He was a prominent Senator during the Clone Wars, working to promote peace and democracy amidst conflict and corruption. He worked closely alongside Senators Padmé Amidala and Mon Mothma, developing a good relationship with Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda along the way, and Organa was a key member of a secret rebellion forming. After the rise of the Empire, Organa continued to serve in the Senate, secretly working against Palpatine’s tyranny, and he and his wife adopted one of Anakin Skywalker’s children, Leia, as their own. Years later, when Leia was kidnapped, Organa enlisted Obi-Wan Kenobi to rescue her. Bail continued to fight for the rebellion until the very end. He was present at the Alliance High Command meeting as the rebellion debated whether to get involved on Scarif, but upon returning home to Alderaan, he was killed when the Death Star destroyed the planet.

Tyranna Pamlo

Senator Tyranna Pamlo is seen briefly in these scenes as well. She represents the planet Taris, and she too becomes a key ally secretly working to aid the rebellion. Like Organa, Pamlo became a member of Alliance High Command, helping to lead the Alliance to Restore the Republic. When Jyn Erso brought her report to Yavin IV about the Empire’s devastating superweapon, Pamlo voiced her belief in Erso’s report but also her hesitation to launch the attack suggested. Pamlo thought that if the Empire truly did have that kind of power, they didn’t have a chance against it. Even though she made her concerns known at the meeting, however, she publicly continued to push back against the Empire before resigning from office. Her fate after that has yet to be told.

Riyo Chuchi

Senator Chuchi represents the planet Pantora in the Senate, and during the Clone Wars she was often timid yet played an important role in several key votes. She was an ally to Senators like Padmé Amidala and Mon Mothma, and became a good friend of Ahsoka Tano. Chuchi takes the most prominent role of any Senator in the voting on this bill, working to uncover a cover-up by Admiral Rampart as she advocates for fair treatment for the clones. Ultimately, her efforts are twisted by the Emperor for his purposes. Chuchi’s fate after these events remains unknown.
