Eman Esfandi cast as Ezra Bridger for the Ahsoka series!

Ezra Bridger is coming to live-action Star Wars.

It was reported today (first by Cinelinx and then confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter) that Eman Esfandi has been cast as Bridger for the upcoming Ahsoka series, which is coming to Disney+ in 2023.

Ezra Bridger was one of the main characters of the successful Star Wars animated series Rebels, in which Bridger is a Jedi apprentice who rises up in the fight against the Empire alongside his friends. His arrival to live-action has been long-anticipated, but it wasn’t clear who would be cast. That question has been answered.

Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson in the role of Ahsoka Tano, who was a major character in animation before making the jump to live-action in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. She will star alongside Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who is bringing another animated character, Sabine Wren, to live-action for the first time. Other animated figures such as Hera Syndulla and Chopper will also be making their live-action debuts, making it obvious that this series is intended to be the long-awaited sequel to Rebels. The casting of Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger confirms that.

The epilogue of Rebels is set after the fall of the Empire, as Sabine and Ahsoka go off in search of Ezra – who disappeared alongside Grand Admiral Thrawn. It seems that these shows are setting up Thrawn’s return as well, as in The Mandalorian it was revealed that Ahsoka is looking for him. As long as they cast Lars Mikkelsen in that role and don’t replace him, then I think they’ve nailed the casting for this series. I’m super excited to see it.

Alongside Dawson, Bordizzo, and Esfandi, the cast of Ahsoka is said to include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, and Hayden Christensen returning to the role of Anakin Skywalker. The series is being helmed by Dave Filoni, who has been heavily involved in overseeing The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett as well.
