Today at the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase panel at Star Wars Celebration, it was announced that the next live-action series to come from the franchise after Obi-Wan Kenobi will drop on August 31 with Andor, and our first official trailer for the series was released!
Take a look:
This looks very different than any Star Wars series we’ve gotten so far, showing a grittier side of the galaxy – tying in well with the war feel of Rogue One. We now have an official release date, as the first TWO episodes will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 31.
The first poster for the series was also released:
It was also revealed at the panel that the first season of the show will take place five years prior to the events of Rogue One, and that the 12 episode season will span the course of one year. A second 12 episode season is filming this fall and will span the remaining four year gap and take us right up to Rogue One. That’s a shorter run than was initially expected, but what really matters is that there’s a compelling story to tell.
Additionally, there was talk about Cassian Andor, Mon Mothma, and Luther – a new Rebel leader played by Stellan Skarsgard.
