THIS IS WHERE THE FUN BEGINS!
At the Disney Investor Day event, it was revealed that ten Star Wars series are coming to Disney+ in the next few years, and then Lucasfilm President Kathy Kennedy made a ton of announcements about what’s coming for the company – and it’s tons more reveals than I ever imagined we’d get!
The Mandalorian creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are currently creating two new spinoff shows from the popular series, which will be set in the same time period: RANGERS OF THE NEW REPUBLIC and AHSOKA! These three series will be set concurrently and, according to Kennedy, will culminate in a climactic story event.
Justin Simien is developing a LANDO series for Disney+!
Leslye Headland is working on THE ACOLYTE, which is described as “a mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era”!
STAR WARS: VISIONS is an upcoming series of animated short films from a number of Japanese anime studios!
Lucasfilm Animation and Industrial Light & Magic are collaborating on a project, A DROID STORY, which introduces a new hero who is guided by C-3PO and R2-D2.
And then there are the shows we already knew about. THE MANDALORIAN season three is coming Christmas 2021, Kennedy announced, while ANDOR is coming in 2022. We got a teaser for that project:
A teaser was also shown for OBI-WAN KENOBI, though it was blacked out to online viewers. This show stars Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, but Kennedy also announced that Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vader!!!!
And then we got an actual teaser for THE BAD BATCH, the upcoming animated show!
