We have long known that the Inquisitors would play a key role in Jedi: Fallen Order, and it certainly appears that the Second Sister will be the primary villain in the game. But the latest trailer for the game revealed that at least one other Inquisitor will be making an appearance: the Ninth Sister!
The Ninth Sister was introduced in Charles Soule’s excellent Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith comic series. A former Jedi (elsewhere revealed to be named Masana Tide), the Ninth Sister became a part of the Inquisitorius. In the words of Darth Vader, “The Emperor created the Inquisitorius Program to hunt down and kill any Jedi who escaped his Purge.” The Inquisitorius soon fell under Vader’s command, and he saw to their training – including teaching them of loss, a lesson they would never forget; in the process, the Ninth Sister lost an eye.
During a mission to Mon Cala with Vader and other Inquisitors, the Ninth Sister was eventually betrayed by the Sixth Brother, who left her behind to fend for herself against the enemy forces.
Obviously, given the fact that she appears in this game (which takes place after the Vader comic), she survived that betrayal. We don’t know what role she will play in this game, but it looks like she appears with the Second Sister and Purge Troopers on a planet, surely hunting Jedi. The question is whether it’s Cal Kestis she’s hunting or not.
I’m excited that we’ll be seeing more Inquisitors than just the Second Sister, and the Ninth Sister is a good choice. Her massive size makes her a formidable foe, but she also possesses a strong connection to the Force that allows her to feel the emotions of others. I think the Inquisitors are a great choice as antagonists in this game, as they will be a formidable and dangerous match for Cal, but not at the level of Vader (against whom Cal would stand zero chance). I can’t wait to see them appear – and find out more of their story! – when this game releases in a couple of months!
