There’s a lot of excitement building over the coming release of The Mandalorian later this year on Disney+, as it will be the first live-action Star Wars TV show – and everything we’ve heard so far about the show has been absolutely fantastic.
One of the actors officially announced as being in the show is Werner Hergoz, a filmmaker who has also done some acting. Speaking with Indie Wire about his new film Meeting Gorbachev (a documentary-type film which he directed), Herzog was also asked about his recent acting career.
“Yes, I did some more now,” Herzog replied. “Now this is not a secret anymore, a small part, real small part, in “The Mandalorian,” the Star Wars sequel or whatever you call it. I like to do it because I know I’m good on screen, but only if I have to play a real villain.”
He then went on to turn the question away from his acting jobs and back to his film about Gorbachev. But that wasn’t before he provided us with some minor yet interesting tidbits about his role in The Mandalorian. What we learned is that he has a small part, but that it sounds like he plays a villain.
That’s not really surprising, but it’s some information nonetheless. We really have no clue about who the antagonists of this show will be or what their allegiances will be, as it’s possible that it could be the Imperial remnants or some criminal organization, or perhaps both. But regardless of who the main villain(s) is, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Herzog is aligned with them. Either way, though, his part is pretty small.
