Making Star Wars’s Jason Ward has had plenty of reports about Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars TV show recently, including that Dave Filoni will apparently direct two episodes of the first season (including the pilot!).
But MSW also has a report on who may play the lead in the show. According to Ward, Pedro Pascal “was the person being held up as a central lead in the live action Star Wars series about the restoration of Mandalore.” Ward notes that it is not officially confirmed, but they believe that he is in line to play the lead.
Pascal is most-known for his roles in the Netflix series Narcos (as Javier Pena), as well as the HBO hit series Game of Thrones (as Oberyn Martell). He is also scheduled to appear in the upcoming film Wonder Woman 1984. This would be his first experience in the Star Wars universe, but he’d be far from the first Game of Thrones actor to appear in the galaxy far, far away. Emilia Clarke, Gwendoline Christie, Max Von Sydow, and Jessica Henwick are among those to appear in both series, while Game of Thrones creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are also creating a new series of Star Wars films.
Hopefully we’ll get some official news about this live-action Star Wars show soon, but for now MSW is doing a great job at reporting rumors about it to keep us intrigued.
