Final trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu released!

In just over a month, Star Wars makes its return to theaters for the first time in nearly seven years.

The Mandalorian and Grogu releases on May 22, and the final trailer for the film was released today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas – with tickets going on sale tomorrow! Accompanied by familiar cues like Yoda’s theme, the trailer continues to highlight the relationship between Din Djarin and Grogu, hinting at the fact that the Mandalorian won’t always be around to protect his child. As far as we can gather, the basic premise of the movie is that Djarin hunts down Imperial warlords for the New Republic, hired by Sigourney Weaver’s Colonel Ward. Along the way, he has a run-in with the Hutt twins seen in The Book of Boba Fett, a giant snake-like creature, and the bounty hunter Embo.

For fans interested in purchasing tickets ahead of time, they will go on sale beginning Friday, April 17, at 6:00 a.m. PT.

In addition to the trailer, a brand new poster was released, featuring Grogu meditating in a forest, like is glimpsed in the trailer. Though this appears to be a different planet than Dagobah, I do think it’s intentional how much Lucasfilm is playing up the idea of Grogu in a forest, with Yoda’s theme playing in the background – for a character that jumped into popular conversation as “baby Yoda”. From a more in-universe perspective, Grogu meditating shows that not only is he training as a Mandalorian foundling, but he also has trained as a Jedi and still draws upon that. I’m intrigued at how they’re going to keep exploring this dynamic.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin. The film is produced by Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with Ludwig Gòransson returning to provide the score.
