The return of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen for Obi-Wan Kenobi was a pure delight, and now fans will get a chance to see behind the scenes about how it all happened.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return will premiere on Disney+ on Thursday, September 8, giving audiences a look at how the show was made. A trailer was released for this special episode, and as you’d expect it focuses heavily on McGregor and Christensen in their return to the franchise, along with Deborah Chow talking about how it all came to be.
This is the latest chapter in a number of making-of documentaries by Disney+, particularly around the Star Wars franchise. There has been episodes of the Disney Gallery series for both seasons of The Mandalorian, as well as for The Book of Boba Fett, giving us an in-depth look behind-the-camera at how those shows came to be. In that regard it’s not a surprise that we’re getting something similar for Obi-Wan Kenobi, but it’s still great to get it confirmed. It carries on a long tradition of documentaries about the making of Star Wars projects, and from the look of it this one will really play up the nostalgia of seeing these two iconic characters return after so long.
September 8 is being hailed as Disney+ Day, where the streaming service is debuting a number of projects and announcing even more. It makes sense that Star Wars is getting in on the fun with this documentary, and I can’t wait to watch it.
