Long have we waited.
After a long stretch of hearing absolutely nothing about it, we will finally be getting an update on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga next week at GamesCon! It sounds like we’ll be getting a new look at the game this Wednesday, August 25:
The game is the largest LEGO video game ever developed and will span all nine films of the Skywalker Saga, being a massively anticipated release amongst Star Wars fans who have such fond memories of playing the previous installments in the franchise. And everything we’ve seen about this game looks simply phenomenal, leaving me and many others anxiously awaiting its realease.
The problem, though, is that we haven’t seen much. And we have no idea when it’ll be releasing. It was originally said to be releasing late in 2020, but that was then pushed back to a spring 2021 release. While disappointing, that wasn’t seen as a huge deal, since the COVID-19 pandemic led to many understandable delays. But as spring 2021 approached and we still hadn’t heard much, concerns started to grow, and the developers announced in April that the game would not make its spring release date and was pushed back – but, concerningly, no new timeframe was given.
Since then? Four months of hearing absolutely nothing. I mean it: nothing. Everyone assumed it was still happening, but they weren’t telling us anything at all. But now, the game is seemingly coming out of hiding a bit and we’ll get a new look at it next week. I’m very much looking forward to that, but I think most important of all is that they give a release date. If that doesn’t happen, it’ll be hard to get too excited about this new look. But I can’t imagine them giving us a look at the game and still not giving us any new information about when it’s coming, so I’m eagerly awaiting the update.
I can’t wait to play this game! I’m just not sure when that will actually be.
