The newest additions to the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame were recently announced, and three Star Wars alums are included: Carrie Fisher, Ewan McGregor, and Ming-Na Wen!
Carrie Fisher is obviously the most notable of that group, and it’s a LONG overdue honor for one of the most influential actresses in the industry. Fisher’s portrayal of Princess Leia Organa in the original Star Wars trilogy (and then again for the sequel trilogy) was revolutionary and beloved, and it’s a shame that it took so long for her to receive her star, which will be awarded posthumously. She joins co-stars Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill in receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Ewan McGregor played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and grew the fan-favorite Jedi Master into an even more beloved figure, capturing a new generation of fans as the central hero of the films and doing a fantastic job of playing the character introduced by Alec Guinness in the previous trilogy. McGregor is returning to the character for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+, which will bridge the gap between his portrayal in the prequels and Guinness’s portrayal in the originals all the more.
Ming-Na Wen is the newest addition to the Star Wars galaxy, and she is probably best-known for playing the starring role of Mulan in the animated Disney films, in addition to a number of other roles. More recently, she has become more and more established as Fennec Shand in the Star Wars universe, appearing in live action in The Mandalorian and then voicing the character in The Bad Batch. She will also be starring alongside Temuera Morrison in the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett, which just recently wrapped filming.
Congrats to Carrie Fisher, Ewan McGregor, and Ming-Na Wen on this well-earned honor, as well as all the others who are included as well. It’s great to see several Star Wars veterans receive this recognition, and most specially Carrie Fisher, who is long overdue for the honor and is overwhelmingly deserving of it.
