Star Wars: Droids is heading to Disney+ later this year!

On Friday, a number of classic Star Wars content hit Disney+ under the new “Vintage Collection” label.

That included the two Ewok live-action films, the animated Ewoks series, the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, and The Story of the Faithful Wookiee (the animated segment from The Star Wars Holiday Special). The only thing missing was the animated Droids series – and it doesn’t sound like it’ll be missing for long.

In the StarWars.com article published on Friday about these titles coming to Disney+, this note was included at the end:

“In addition, the Star Wars: Droids animated series is slated to join the Star Wars Vintage Collection later this year.”

That’s great news! It means that pretty much every Star Wars series ever released will then be on Disney+, both canon and Vintage Collection material.

Droids was released in 1985 and ran for one season alongside the animated Ewoks series, which were released as part of the Ewoks and Droids Adventure Hour on ABC. It stars C-3PO and R2-D2 on a variety of adventures set prior to the events of the original films (and after the events of the prequel trilogy that was later released).
