Over two years ago, I wrote an article about the 25 characters I’d most like to see added to Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. In the time since then, 12 of them have been added, including six of the top seven (but for whatever dumb reason, not number two… read on to find out who).
A lot has changed in this game and in the Star Wars universe since then, so I wanted to create a brand new list – this one, as we look toward 2021 and the future of this game, is about the ten characters I’d love to see added the most right now. Who do you most want to see in the game?
10. Fennec Shand

In The Mandalorian, Fennec appeared briefly in season one and then returned for a more substantial role in season two. She’s a feared assassin and can more than hold her own in combat. But she’ll also be appearing in the upcoming animated series The Bad Batch, as well as the upcoming live-action show The Book of Boba Fett. If Galaxy of Heroes wants to tie in to what’s current (which strangely they don’t always do…), I think it’s a safe bet that we’ll get Fennec at some point. And that would be fantastic.
9. Trilla

We don’t have any Imperial Inquisitors in the game, but it would be great to see that change – and while there are plenty of great options (including the Grand Inquisitor), I think the best one is the Second Sister, a.k.a. Trilla. She’s the antagonist of Jedi: Fallen Order and is not only a formidable foe but a compelling character. Think about how cool it would be to have Trilla on an Empire squad working to hunt down Jedi with Darth Vader or something like that?
8. Cal Kestis (& BD-1)

The main character of Jedi: Fallen Order, Cal Kestis is such a great character. Like Trilla, he would mean bringing in a character from another video game to this mobile game, which hasn’t been done for any canon games so far (but has been done for The Old Republic). I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get Iden Versio or anything with Battlefront II, but Fallen Order is an even far more logical option. I really hope that we at least get Cal, and he of course would be accompanied by his faithful buddy BD-1. Ideally we’d get the whole crew, but I doubt that. But I can dream, I guess.
7. The Bad Batch

Speaking of The Bad Batch, let’s get them in the game! I’m cheating by including all five members of Clone Force 99 in one here, but it would be great to get all five of them in Galaxy of Heroes so that we can have a full squad of the Bad Batch! Think about how cool it would be to be able to take a squad into battle that includes Hunter, Wrecker, Crosshair, Tech, and Echo, all bringing different abilities to the table that complement each other well and work together as a squad – maybe such that they don’t work nearly as well if you remove them from the squad (maybe with the exception of Echo also working with 501st?). It’s not often that there’s a full squad that’s so obviously sitting there, and the Bad Batch is the perfect opportunity.
6. Maul

Quite simply, the version of Maul that we have in the game right now is nothing special. He’s fine in certain squads, but nothing spectacular. And for the Maul from The Phantom Menace, that’s fine! But what we need is a Maul from The Clone Wars, the menacing crime boss who fights for power. The central villain of the Siege of Mandalore (until the true phantom menace’s plan is revealed, that is), Maul is such a compelling character through the series (and into Rebels), and I’m honestly quite surprised that the developers haven’t taken advantage of it. The return of The Clone Wars last year was a huge deal in the Star Wars world, but you wouldn’t have really known it in the game. But better late than never, right?
5. Ben Solo

Curiously, Lucasfilm has been very reticent to do anything with Ben Solo in the year-plus since The Rise of Skywalker released. No merchandise or anything. And in this game, the only characters from the film that were released were all working toward Galactic Legends – or were Galactic Legends themselves. Maybe the game is too far gone down the road now and won’t release many characters that just stand on their own (i.e. not working toward a GL or something), but I’d love to see Ben Solo brought to this game. The problem is that I’m not exactly sure where he’d fit in, but as a marquee character or something, I think there would be some excitement around it. If nothing else, I’d be pumped about it! Plus, the model is already in the game, in the Sith Eternal Emperor event, so there’s that!
4. Boba Fett

We already have one Boba Fett in the game, so this isn’t desperately needed. However, it does seem to check the boxes for warranting another character: 1) a new design; 2) a new era; 3) new abilities/weapons to use; and 4) a major character in a popular show (The Mandalorian) and the central figure of an upcoming one (The Book of Boba Fett). It would be awesome to see the Fett from The Mandalorian show up in this game, and if he does he could have some synergy with Fennec Shand too.
3. The High Republic Jedi

Ok, so this is probably the most surprising, and definitely the most ambitious, on this list. Like with The Bad Batch I’m actually including a whole group here, but the point is this: I think it’s a golden opportunity to bring some of the Jedi from the High Republic books and comics into this game! Lucasfilm has been giving this a lot more attention than for typical book projects, including artwork and videos and the like, and that makes it a bit more reasonable to suggest that characters from these books be brought to the game without setting a precedent for all book characters coming in or something (though that’d be cool). But just think of a Jedi like Avar Kriss or Vernestra Rwoh or whoever being brought to this game! That’d be awesome. I highly doubt it happens, but I’d really love it to.
2. Bo-Katan Kryze

A central figure of The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Mandalorian, Bo-Katan Kryze has been overlooked and forgotten for far too long in this game. And especially now that there’s a Mandalorian tag, perhaps her time is near. She hasn’t exactly always been the most admirable character, but she’s a fan favorite and could have some great synergy with various squads. With the recent focus on the show and the recent faction tag addition, she almost makes too much sense. Because of that I’m not getting my hopes up, but she’s an obvious character who needs added and would be an epic one too.
1. General Leia Organa

I’ve been saying it for years now, and since it stunningly hasn’t changed, I’ll continue to say it: BY FAR the most overlooked character in this game is Leia Organa. In fact, it’s so crazy that you’d almost be tempted to wonder whether there’s some far less noble reason for it… but I’m not sure I’d go there yet. Regardless, it’s absolutely stunning. When you think of the original and beloved Star Wars characters, there are five Han Solos in the game, five Chewbaccas in the game, four Luke Skywalkers… and two Leia Organas. Even worse, while there are Hans, Chewies, and Lukes that are meta, there are no Leias in the meta – and there haven’t been for a long while. But the craziest of them all is the fact that we’ve now made it through the entirety of the sequel trilogy, spanning three films in six years (with SWGOH around for all of it), and for whatever dumb reason we haven’t gotten a Leia from the sequels. Han? Yeah! Chewie? Check. Luke? Thanks to last year, yes! But Leia? Nope, despite her being the leader of the Resistance and a major player. Let me say this as nicely as I can: there is absolutely NO excuse or reason that makes it acceptable for General Leia not being in this game right now. None. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
