An interesting new Star Wars book was recently announced, as Skywalker: A Family at War, by Kristin Baver, releases on May 4, 2021!
Baver is a writer and editor for StarWars.com and the host of the “This Week in Star Wars” show, so she’s a great choice to tackle this project. The book is a biography of the Skywalkers, from the prequels through the sequels, and includes not just the events of the films but the other canonical stories, like books and comics.
Here’s what Baver had to say to StarWars.com about it:
“I’m so thrilled to be able to tell the story of the Skywalkers through the lens of a biographer. From the outset, I knew I wanted to treat the family as if they were real people, with compassion and empathy, while simultaneously crafting an unflinching portrait of their accomplishments and their failures. These characters are larger than life yet so fragile and unmistakably human, and that comes into focus when you study how their actions impact the greater galaxy and their family.”
This is something I never knew I wanted, but since the announcement, I’m very excited about this! It’s unclear whether this book is intended to be an in-universe biography or not, and it doesn’t seem like it will include any new material, but will tell the complete story of this family in a biographic, single-volume format. And I think that’s awesome.
