Today is the day!!!
A brand new era of Star Wars begins today, as the High Republic publishing initiative kicks off with the release of the first three books: Charles Soule’s Light of the Jedi, Justina Ireland’s A Test of Courage, and Cavan Scott’s The Great Jedi Rescue. Then tomorrow, the first issue of Cavan Scott’s comic series on The High Republic releases. Next month, Claudia Gray’s Into the Dark comes out, as does Daniel José Older’s comic series The High Republic Adventures. And there’s plenty more to come.
Set 200 years before The Phantom Menace, this initiative explores a brand new time period of the galaxy that has never been explored, introducing us to new characters and places. I am really excited about this, and to celebrate the launch, Star Wars released a short trailer yesterday:
It’s pretty cool to see books and comics get this much publicity and press, even getting a trailer, and it shows just how much effort is being put into this. And there will probably be more projects beyond just publishing to come; we already know that Leslye Hedland is developing a series for Disney+ called The Acolyte, which is set in the final days of the High Republic era.
So all of this is just the beginning, and that starts today!
