There are two Star Wars video games coming out later this year, as we have Star Wars Squadrons and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga!
We’ve actually seen quite a bit from Squadrons, as that’s been promoted significantly. But LEGO Star Wars? We’ve seen almost nothing – not even a confirmed release date! All of that is extremely curious, especially if it’s still planned to release in just a few months, but more information might be coming soon!
This week was when Star Wars Celebration was supposed to be, and so this is exactly the timeframe when Star Wars news was surely originally going to drop (like a trailer for The Mandalorian). The timing lines up, but it also just so happens that Gamescon is happening this weekend as well.
It has already been confirmed that Star Wars Squadrons will be premiering a brand new look at the game on Thursday’s opening night, which will air at 2:00 P.M. Eastern time.
That’s exciting, but might we be getting a look at LEGO Star Wars as well? Cinelinx’s Jordan Maison thinks so, while apparently the level director for the game retweeted a promo for the opening night event. Now certainly all of this is just circumstantial evidence, but it gives us reason to hope.
To be honest, I’m not entirely sure why we haven’t gotten more of a look at the LEGO Star Wars game, unless they’re not 100% certain when it’s releasing yet (which would be understandable due to COVID-related delays). But if it’s still planned to release soon, for such a highly-anticipated game, it’s curious that we’ve seen almost nothing.
So piecing things together, if it was planned that the first major look at the game would come at Celebration, this would be right around the time for that marketing to ramp up. But with no Celebration, perhaps that look at the game will drop elsewhere – like Gamescon.
If that’s the case, then I’ll be really excited to see it. I’m obviously excited for Squadrons, but I’m even more excited for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Hopefully we’ll be getting a glimpse at both of these very soon.
