There was exciting news recently announced by Star Wars: a new VR experience, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge, is being developed and will release later this year!
The VR experience is being developed by ILMxLAB in collaboration with Oculus Studios, who collaborated before on the Vader Immortal VR experience. This one is set on Batuu, site of Black Spire Outpost, and is described as being an action-packed adventure with new stories, characters, and regions on Batuu for players to discover – while also featuring iconic characters.
We didn’t really get any details story-wise, but it will be set in-between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker and will take place on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. Presumably, then, this story will play heavily into the conflict between the Resistance and the First Order.
Perhaps most exciting of all, however, is that this will tie-in to the Galaxy’s Edge theme park at both Disney World and Disney Land. The park is set in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, and so this experience will immerse players into the same world, while also exploring different parts of the planet. So while this VR experience will by no means be cheap, it might give some people the chance to ‘visit’ Batuu if they can’t make it to the park. But for those who have visited and for those who haven’t, it sounds like this will be an exciting story for all to experience.
