According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit, J.D. Dillard and Matt Owens have been recruited to work on a Star Wars project!
No details were reported about what the project would be about, nor were details reported about whether the project is going to be a theatrical release or on Disney+. Kit did mention, though, that this project is different from the ones that Kevin Feige and Rian Johnson are developing.
Both men are relative unknowns in Hollywood. Dillard directed the films Sweetheart and Slight, while Owens has served as a writer on such Marvel projects as Luke Cage, Agents of Shield, and The Defenders. I’m guessing that Dillard would direct and Owens write on this Star Wars project, but I can’t say I know much about either of them.
Keep in mind that projects are always in a state of flux with studios, so this doesn’t guarantee that it will be made. But we’ve heard plenty of rumors and reports about various projects, so I’m excited to hear about what Lucasfilm has planned for the next era of Star Wars!
