At the end of The Rise of Skywalker, just when things are looking bleakest for the Resistance, Lando Calrissian arrives with reinforcements – people from across the galaxy.
It’s a heroic and triumphant moment, and included amongst the massive fleet that arrives at Exegol to face the Final Order are some very familiar ships to fans of Star Wars Resistance.
In the Bucket’s List for the final episode of the show, images were revealed of the ships from the show that appeared with the fleet. It was revealed that photo-real versions of the Fireball, Jarek Yeager’s racer, and Torra Doza’s ship were created as part of the 14,000 ships that arrive at Exegol.
These ships look really great, and I think it’s really awesome that they are confirmed to be at the Battle of Exegol. I wish we would’ve seen them in the film (we’ll have to keep our eyes out when the film is released in home media), but it’s still cool to know that they’re there.
At the same time, though, I wonder why they wouldn’t have already shown up. Why didn’t they appear at Crait? And even if they didn’t appear at Crait, why wouldn’t the next year have been enough for them to formally join the Resistance? Or if they did, why weren’t they part of the initial wave to head to Exegol? These are questions that I still have, and I hope we’ll get answers sometime.
Another thing that I’d love to get confirmed is who is flying these ships. The obvious guess is that Kaz is flying the Fireball, Yeager is flying his ship, and Torra is flying her ship – but since Kaz previously flew Yeager’s fighter once, and since Tam is now back and could be flying the Fireball, it’d be nice to get confirmation one way or another.
