According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, Stephen Schiff has been hired to oversee the coming Cassian Andor series for Disney+.
Schiff is probably most well-known for his role as a writer and producer on the FX show The Americans (2013-2018). He will oversee the Cassian Andor show, and I would guess that means that his role will be similar to Jon Favreau’s role on The Mandalorian. Favreau is producing, writing, and overseeing that show, but he has brought in a number of others to direct certain episodes. That would make sense for this show too, as we could possibly see Schiff write, produce, and oversee the show while bringing in others to direct episodes.
The Cassian Andor show will star Diego Luna reprising his role as the Rebel spy from Rogue One, and there’s a ton that it could do as it explores the early days (and perhaps darker sides) of the Rebellion. The show will be released on Disney+, though a release date has not yet been set.
