Tales of the Jedi came out this past week, and it seems like a perfect format for Star Wars to continue.
We don’t have any word about a potential second season of the show, but I’m really hoping that we get more. The format is fairly simple: a series of three animated shorts (ranging 13-19 minutes) about a particular Jedi. Accompanied by beautiful visuals, music, and sound design, the first season gave us a look at Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. But I would love to see more stories, about different Jedi – and in different eras!
Think about the potential about some of these stories that could be told. For example, this could be a way to give us some animated content about Luke Skywalker’s adventures in-between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Think about three episodes of Luke’s adventures! Or think about three episodes about Leia training with Luke to be a Jedi! Or think about three episodes about Ben Solo’s training with Luke and fall to the dark side, pulling Snoke into the story too! This seems like the perfect way to expand upon their stories.
Or let’s jump back in the timeline all the way to the High Republic. Think about the chance to see three episodes about some of the Jedi in the High Republic era, introducing some of the characters on-screen for the first time! That probably would need to wait a bit while the current High Republic storytellers are writing, but it could be a cool way of expanding upon them down the road.
We could go back even further than that and pull in some other Jedi as well, and depending on what happens with The Mandalorian Tarre Vizsla could be an obvious inclusion, showing the story of the first Mandalorian Jedi and the creation of the darksaber.
My point is simply that there are a ton of stories that could be told, and I think this is the perfect venue for them. It’s a collected series of anthology stories, beautifully done, that can explore any number of Jedi. I really hope we get to see more.
