According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast in an undisclosed role in the upcoming Ahsoka series that will be coming to Disney+.
There aren’t any details about her role available, but she joins a staff that is really beginning to take shape. The series will star Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, the fan-favorite former Jedi who appeared in The Clone Wars and Rebels. Dawson played Tano in The Mandalorian, with the character making her live-action debut, and she will be joined by Natasha Liu Bordizzo in the role of Sabine Wren, another animated character who first appeared in Rebels and will be making her live-action debut in the series. Hayden Christensen is reprising his role of Anakin Skywalker from the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and Ivanna Sakhno and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are both reported to be among the cast as well.
The series is being written and developed by Dave Filoni, the Executive Creative Director at Lucasfilm who created the characters of Ahsoka and Sabine as the showrunner of The Clone Wars and Rebels, and who is serving as executive producer, director, and writer on The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and this era of storyteling.
We don’t know a lot about this series, but I’m super excited about it. Winstead is another really strong addition to a cast that looks fantastic right now, and the series should be going into production soon. Hopefully we’ll be getting a bit more official information before long, such as at Celebration.
