LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga announces a release date of April 5, 2022 with a new gameplay trailer!

After a long wait and several delays, the highly-anticipated LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game is finally close.

The latest we knew was that the game was supposed to release sometime this spring, and today we finally got a release date: the game will drop on Tuesday, April 5, 2022! That means we are less than three months away from getting to return to the world of LEGO Star Wars in the biggest LEGO game ever made!

Additionally, a new gameplay trailer was released, showing us what we can expect from the game:

There’s a lot included in there, from the worlds to the characters to the gameplay to the fact that they’re implementing a mumble mode. The game will focus on the nine films in the Skywalker saga, but there will be DLC content released at the time of the game’s launch bringing in some characters from the non-saga films and shows. This will be the first time The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker ever appear in a LEGO game, and the rest of the films have been re-mastered and re-designed as well!

The game will allow you to select which trilogy to start with, as you can either begin with The Phantom Menace (with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan aboard the Trade Federation ship), A New Hope (with Princess Leia and the droids aboard the Tantive IV), or The Force Awakens (with Poe Dameron in the Jakku village). From there you can progress through the films and stories, but the game will also allow you to explore 24 different planets outside of those story levels! This makes for an absolutely massive game, and there are tons of characters (over 300 of them!). Additionally, there are upgrades available by character class, meaning there’s a progression system that’s new to LEGO games too.

This game looks amazing, and as a huge fan of the previous LEGO Star Wars games, I absolutely cannot wait for this!
