A new Star Wars one-shot comic is coming, and it’s all about Life Day!

There’s a ton of amazing Star Wars storytelling going on in comics right now! It’s a golden age for this content, and more and more new projects keep being announced.

In addition to the Crimson Reign miniseries that was recently announced, Star Wars also revealed a new one-shot is coming based on Life Day! The comic book, Star Wars: Life Day #1, will release in November and feature four different stories. Each story will be written by a different author, with Cavan Scott, Justina Ireland, Jody Houser, and Steve Orlando signed on for the project.

The premise of the story, it seems, will be about when Han Solo and Chewbacca “find themselves outgunned and under fire,” with Chewie reminiscing and telling stories about Life Days. The four stories are teased as being very different, and we do get one thrilling note: Justina Ireland’s story will feature Burryaga from the High Republic!

Life Day is a big deal in the Star Wars universe, and it’s celebrated in our universe in November, so it’ll coincide with the release of this comic. But it bears more similarities to our holiday of Christmas, bringing in a bunch of seasonal fun. It first appeared in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978, but while the special has been buried, Life Day has appeared quite a bit more. That includes in last year’s The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, which also centered around Life Day just like the previous special had. In the original holiday special, Han and Chewie run into trouble while trying to get home to Kashyyyk for Life Day, which, of course, sounds a bit like what this comic book might be centered around… but it sounds like that’s merely a way to jump into a variety of different stories.

And the fact that Burryaga will be showing up just makes it all the sweeter. The Wookiee Jedi from the High Republic era has quickly become a fan favorite, and I can’t wait to hear Chewbacca’s perspective on him.
