Star Wars announced today that a LEGO Star Wars Halloween special will be coming to Disney+ on October 1, 2021, titled LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales!
This comes on the heels of the fantastic LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, which was released last November on the streaming platform. While that focused on Life Day (which is in many ways the Star Wars equivalent of Christmas), this one will be keeping with the holiday theme of Halloween.

After the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Poe Dameron and BB-8 must make an emergency landing on the volcanic planet Mustafar where they meet the greedy and conniving Graballa the Hutt. The crime boss has purchased Darth Vader’s castle and is renovating it into the galaxy’s first all-inclusive Sith-inspired luxury hotel. While waiting for his X-Wing to be repaired, Poe, BB-8, Graballa, and Dean (a plucky and courageous young boy who works as Graballa’s mechanic) venture deep into the mysterious castle with Vader’s loyal servant, Vaneé. Along the way, Vaneé shares three creepy stories linked to ancient artifacts and iconic villains from across all eras of Star Wars. As Vaneé spins his tales and lures our heroes deeper into the shadowy underbelly of the castle, a sinister plan emerges. With the help of Dean, Poe and BB-8 will have to face their fears, stop an ancient evil from rising, and escape to make it back to their friends.
I think this sounds great. I loved the Holiday Special last year, so if this is anything like that it’ll be fantastic. It’s interesting to note that this special too will be set after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, just like the Holiday Special was, but it sounds like this time it’ll focus on Poe Dameron and BB-8, whereas the last one focused on Rey and BB-8. It’s unclear whether this one will pull in the rest of the heroes like that one, but I’m sure it’ll be great either way.
And the premise for this sounds awesome, and it sounds very much like the Tales from Vader’s Castle comic series, which was a five-issue miniseries released in 2018 and written by Cavan Scott, who also wrote a subsequent mini-series called Return to Vader’s Castle in 2019. Basically, the series featured visitors to Vader’s castle being told a variety of haunted stories, and it sounds like this is exactly what this special will be about too, with Vaneé (who also is in that comic series, but who first appeared in Rogue One at Vader’s castle) telling these stories. That’s a great way to pull in the various eras of the saga too, which is a lot of fun.
The other relevant detail regarding the premise is that Graballa the Hutt is working to turn Vader’s Castle into a Sith-inspired luxury hotel, so basically it’s going to be like an in-universe Disney World. But in all seriousness, it’s this kind of crazy storyline that works so perfectly in LEGO format. One other note is that Christian Slater is listed as playing Ren, so I’m assuming that means he’ll be playing the original leader of the Knights of Ren, whom we met in The Rise of Kylo Ren comic. If that’s true, that’s a pretty awesome connection!
I’m really excited about this. I loved the Holiday Special and thought that not only did it tell a fun and meaningful story, but also included fantastic animation, plenty of great gags, and a lot more. I expect nothing less from this, and I’d absolutely love it if they continue to make LEGO specials like this on a regular (maybe yearly?) basis. I can’t wait to watch this on October 1!
