A bit of unexpected, but not unwelcome, news was announced today: Star Wars Celebration Anaheim will now be happening on May 26-29, 2022! This is moved up from the previously announced date of August 18-21, 2022.
The announcement said that those who already purchased tickets will automatically be transferred to the new dates, but should you wish to request a refund, you can do that anytime before June 11, 2021.
There is no reason for the change announced, so it feels a bit random at this point, but it’s certainly a welcome change. Last year’s Celebration was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and there was none scheduled for 2021 at all. So it will have been a very long wait, and it’s nice that it’ll be happening a few months earlier than we previously thought.
I’m expecting that this Celebration will be pretty massive, since there are a ton of shows currently in development. By May 2022, we’ll probably be ready to see quite a bit from these shows, like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor and Ahsoka and others, so there will surely be a ton to follow along with and to get excited about. And though it’s still a year and a half before the release of Rogue Squadron, it wouldn’t be too surprising to think we’ll get some sort of update about that as well. It’s a very exciting time to be a Star Wars fan, and it seems that May 2022 will be a prime time to capitalize on it.
