New Star Wars books announced: The Art of Galaxy’s Edge and The Lightsaber Collection!

Recently at a Comic-Con@Home livestream, a few exciting new Star Wars books were announced!

You can read about all of the interesting tidbits and reveals from the panel here, but there were two books in particular that stood out to me.

The first is The Lightsaber Collection, written by Daniel Wallace. This reference book will release on October 20, 2020, and as the title would suggest, it will explore the various lightsabers throughout the saga. There will be plenty of artwork, illustrations, and images that bring the lightsabers – and their wielders – to life in a gorgeous manner. I’m looking forward to this one, and I love the cover. It features the lightsabers of Mace Windu, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Leia Organa, and I’m particularly pleased to see Leia’s lightsaber featured so prominently!

The second is The Art of Galaxy’s Edge, written by Amy Ratcliffe. This one will release on April 21, 2021, and it will take readers behind-the-scenes of the development of the Star Wars theme park at Disneyland and Disney World by looking at the various illustrations and artwork along the way. This book falls in line with the recent “Art of” Star Wars books, as there’s been these books published for The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, Solo, The Rise of Skywalker, Rebels, and, later this year, The Mandalorian. These books are tremendous, and I think it makes a ton of sense to do one for Galaxy’s Edge.

There are, of course, plenty more Star Wars publications to get excited about, but these were the two that stood out to me in particular. Even though we’re not getting a new Star Wars film for a few years, between the shows, the books, the comics, the games, and more, we’re still getting a ton of new content from a galaxy far, far away.
