Boba Fett reportedly to appear in The Mandalorian season two, played by Temuera Morrison!

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter’s Aaron Crouch and Borys Kit, Temuera Morrison will be returning to the Star Wars universe in The Mandalorian season two – to play Boba Fett!!!

The report says that, “Boba Fett is expected to play just a small role in season two of the series.” But nonetheless, Fett’s return is pretty massive news for a show that already is reportedly going to see Ahsoka Tano’s live-action debut!

Morrison played Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, and voiced the clone troopers in both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Later, for an update to The Empire Strikes Back, he provided the voice for Boba Fett as well. He has also voiced both Jango and Boba Fett in various video games, including voicing the latter most recently in Battlefront and Battlefront II. With Boba Fett being a clone of his father, Jango, it makes perfect sense for Morrison to be the one to play him.

In episode five of the first season of the show, the ending featured a little tease, as a mysterious figure approached Fennec Shand on Tatooine. The sound effects were identical to Boba Fett, which caused many fans (including myself) to speculate that it might actually be him. That tease was never picked up on again in season one, but it now appears that it was setting up for season two, in which Boba Fett reportedly returns!

Fett has been a fan favorite character despite his lack of screen time. In Return of the Jedi he is cast into the sarlacc pit, but in legends material he escaped. It always seemed like just a matter of time before they explored his fate in canon material, and this seems like the perfect way to do it. I’m super excited about this!
