Before The Mandalorian ever premiered on Disney+, it was renewed for a second season.
That’s a high vote of confidence in the show, and the second season apparently began filming in October. With all the buzz about the show right now, though, showrunner Jon Favreau took to social media to share a photo of the Mando’s helmet from the set of the second season:
It’s impossible for us to know what direction season two will go in since we’re just a couple of episodes into season one, but I think it’s really cool to know that the creatives behind the show are already hard at work on the second season. So far, everything we’ve seen of the first season is absolutely incredible and has left me really longing for more, waiting eagerly for the next episode. The first season will end near the end of December, and then we’ll be left waiting.
Of course, it’s not like we won’t have any Star Wars to pay attention to. The Rise of Skywalker will have just released a week earlier when The Mandalorian ends, and so I’ll surely be seeing the film several more times after that. And then in February 2020, the long-anticipated final season of The Clone Wars drops on Disney+. So giving all of this content a bit of room to breathe, added with the special effects The Mandalorian will require, makes me anticipate the second season of the show dropping somewhere around the fall of 2020. But that’s just totally my guess.
