We’re just about a month away from Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, and this week on the Star Wars Show three different Lucasfilm animation panels were announced!
On Saturday, April 13, there will be a Rebels Remembered panel that reflects on the legacy and moments of Star Wars Rebels. This panel will consist of showrunner Dave Filoni, Vanessa Marshall (voice of Hera Syndulla), Tiya Sircar (voice of Sabine Wren), and Taylor Gray (voice of Ezra Bridger). I’m sure this will be a pretty great panel filled with plenty of memories, but one thing we shouldn’t expect is an announcement of a new animated show. The Lucasfilm release about this panel makes that much clear:
Although the series is over (and there won’t be a surprise announcement of a new series during this panel), we’ll never forget the characters who deepened our knowledge of the Force, made us laugh and cry, and gave us hope.
It’s almost like they know Star Wars fans or something, because my first thought when hearing that there would be a Rebels panel was to wonder whether they would do something like what happened at the Clone Wars panel at Comic-Con last year (where a continuation was announced). I am quite hopeful that we will get more stories one day about Sabine, Ahsoka, Ezra, and Thrawn, but it sounds like we shouldn’t be expecting that from this panel. Even still, though, I’m sure there will be plenty of great memories and new insights shared that will be worth it.
THE CLONE WARS
Then on Sunday, April 14, there will be a panel about The Clone Wars, in which Dave Filoni and other special guests “to celebrate the return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and share an exclusive sneak peek at things to come.” I’m sure that this will probably be one of the more highly-anticipated panels of Celebration (though obviously Episode IX is the biggest one), as it will likely give us more footage of what’s to come. We got a trailer announcing the return of The Clone Wars, but we really haven’t gotten anything since. I can’t wait to hear all the information that will be shared at this panel!
And the following day, on Monday, April 15, there will be a panel about Resistance, featuring the show’s producers Justin Ridge, Athena Portillo, and Brandon Auman, as well as cast members Christopher Sean (Kazuda Xiono), Suzie McGrath (Tam Ryvora), Scott Lawrence (Jarek Yeager), Myrna Velasco (Torra Doza), and Donald Faison (Hype Fazon). This panel as described as a time to “look back at the shocking season one finale and a preview of the second season.” I find it interesting that this refers to a shocking finale to season one, and I can’t wait to see what that turns out to be in a few short weeks. Additionally, I’m really curious to find out information about season two, and we’ll probably have a better idea of that once we see how season one finishes, though we’ll surely get much more information at this panel.
Lucasfilm animation is doing a ton of things really well, so I can’t wait for these three panels at Star Wars Celebration to find out more about these past, current, and future projects! One thing is clear: this year’s Celebration is going to be epic!
