A brand new trailer was released for Maul – Shadow Lord, ahead of the premiere of Star Wars’s latest animated series next month.
The series follows Maul in the aftermath of Order 66 and the fall of the Republic, showing his work in the criminal underworld as he tries to survive in the Imperial era. On Janix, he draws the attention of a local security force, led by Captain Brander Lawson, but Maul has even bigger foes to worry about – Imperial Inquisitors hunt him down. Along the way, Maul finds a Jedi Padawan, Devon Izara, and apparently enlists her as his new apprentice.
The trailer is action-packed and epic, showing off the stunning animation from the team at Lucasfilm Animation. With every new show it seems that they just get to show off how good they’ve gotten at this, and this series looks to be no different. It also looks to be quite intense, with plenty of action and excitement, as the trailer is packed with lightsaber fights and other battles, as Maul and his forces face off against several foes.
I am incredibly excited for this series because it looks incredible, but also because everything Lucasfilm Animation touches is absolute gold. Some of the best ever Star Wars stories have been told in this medium, and I’m thrilled that it continues to be a focus.
Maul – Shadow Lord will premiere on Disney+ on April 6 with the first two episodes, and there will be two episodes released each Monday until the final episodes are released on May 4. The series was created and developed by Lucasfilm boss Dave Filoni, working with Matt Michnovetz. Filoni, Michnovetz, Athena Yvette Portillo, Brad Rau, Carrie Beck, and Josh Rimes are executive producers, with Rau as supervising director.
