A Star Wars animated series is coming to an end with one more season, dropping in a few weeks. The new trailer for Young Jedi Adventures was released, highlighting the third and final season of the lighthearted children’s adventure show.
All seven episodes of the third season will be released on Disney+ on December 8. The show is set in the High Republic era, a time of great growth and exploration for the Republic, and a time where we see the Jedi at their height. It follows Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, Nubs, alongside their pilot friend Nash Durango and her trusty droid, RJ-83, as well as a host of other characters. They’re trained by none other than Grand Master Yoda, who has taken a particular interest in training younglings at this point.
The first two seasons are well done, giving lighthearted stories aimed at kids, teaching them about heroism and the light, all while telling some fun adventure stories. It’s quite enjoyable, and I’m glad that there’s a third season coming – one that, based on the trailer, looks to include a flash-forward to when the younglings have become padawans, which is cool.
All together, the show will have spanned 55 episodes, making for a really impressive run. It has always seemed to fly under the radar, because of the fact that it’s designed for younger audiences, but that’s a really good length for a show like this and there’s plenty to catch up on if you’ve missed it. It’s not going to become your favorite series, or do anything groundbreaking, but it’s an enjoyable and rewarding watch.
Young Jedi Adventures is helmed by showrunner Michael Olson, who also serves as executive producer alongside James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, and Elliot M. Bour.
