Star Wars releases lengthy recap of the first season of Andor, and makes watching it more widely available, in advance of season two

Lucasfilm is really beginning to pick up the promotion for Andor season two, and is doing so in large part by trying to appeal to a broader fanbase to gain more viewers.

This was evident in the initial trailer for the season that was tonally quite different from the past, but that also played up how critically acclaimed the series has been. But it’s also evident in a series of moves recently that seem aimed at getting the series more widely watched. The entire first season of the show has been released on Hulu, so that subscribers can watch on the platform (which is also owned by Disney). It will be available on Hulu until season two premieres on Disney+ on April 22.

Additionally, the first three episodes of the series have been released for free on the Disney+ YouTube channel, allowing people to watch it without having to pay for either a Disney+ or Hulu subscription. That’s a pretty remarkable move, which is obviously aimed at trying to attract those who didn’t watch the series previously – and who might become hooked after watching this first arc. To go along with that, they also conducted a live Q&A with showrunner Tony Gilroy and some cast members to promote the series on YouTube as well.

And as if that wasn’t enough, they also released a pretty great 14-minute recap of season one on YouTube. That’s probably aimed just as much at those who did watch the first season, to serve as a refresher, but either way it’s still a lot of fun to watch and remember just how great this series is.

The second and final season of Andor premieres on April 22, only on Disney+, with the first three episodes releasing that night.
