In some fun and exciting news, a new podcast is launching soon to go episode-by-episode through Star Wars Rebels and give fans a look behind-the-scenes.
“Pod of Rebellion” will premiere on March 11, 2024 in partnership with iHeart Radio, and it will be hosted by Vanessa Marshall (the voice of Hera Syndulla), Tiya Sircar (the voice of Sabine Wren), Taylor Gray (the voice of Ezra Bridger), and Jon Lee Brody. They also plan to have special guests appear, already teasing Steve Bleum (the voice of Garazeb Orrelios) making an appearance. The podcast promises to “rewatch and break down every episode of Star Wars Rebels and also have visitors from various people in the Star Wars universe and fandom.”
Rewatch podcasts like this one have become popular in recent years, perhaps most notably with “The Office Ladies” taking a rewatch through all nine seasons of The Office, providing a chance for a show’s cast to reunite and talk through the series. This will be the first time a Star Wars show has gotten this treatment, though, and I couldn’t possibly think of a better one for it to happen with.
I’ve long been on record saying that Rebels is the best Star Wars show that’s ever been made, and it also is one of the most influential Star Wars stories impacting the modern storytelling. What’s more, with Dave Filoni moving forward with the continuation of this story in live-action formats, Star Wars has sadly been less-than-great at honoring and acknowledging the contributions of the voice cast that made the characters beloved in the first place. So this podcast seems like the perfect opportunity to not only celebrate the best Star Wars show that’s been made, but to do so while crediting and hearing from those that made it happen.
I’ll be listening, and I’m curious to see what special guests appear as the show goes on.
