Skeleton Crew is releasing on December 2, a day earlier than previously announced

A surprise, to be sure, and certainly a welcome one: Skeleton Crew will premiere a day earlier than originally planned.

Star Wars announced that the series will debut on Disney+ on Monday, December 2, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time (9:00 p.m. Eastern Time). The first two episodes will debut at once, and afterward we will get episodes weekly at the same time on Tuesdays up through the season finale on January 14.

It’s unclear why the series release date was moved up one day, but it’s probably nothing overly significant. But Disney had planned a limited theatrical debut for the series on December 2, airing the first two episodes at 25 theaters around the United States. Given that, we can guess that they moved up the Disney+ release to match the same night so as to allow fans to experience it on the same night – either in theaters or in their homes – and not have to wait a day with spoilers emerging on the internet. That makes perfect sense, and really, it just means that we’ll get to see the show a bit earlier than expected, and I’m always excited about new Star Wars whenever we can get it.

Skeleton Crew was created by showrunners Jon Watts and Chris Ford, who are executive producers on the series alongside Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson – all four of whom have worked together on every show set in The Mandalorian timeline. The series stars Jude Law (Jod Na Nawood), Ravi Cabot-Conyers (Wim), Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Fern), Kyriana Kratter (KB), Robert Timothy Smith (Neel), and Nick Frost (SM-33). It is directed by Watts (episodes 1 and 8), David Lowery (episodes 2 and 3), the Daniels (episode 4), Jake Schreier (episode 5), Bryce Dallas Howard (episode 6), and Lee Isaac Chung (episode 7). It’s all about a group of kids who get lost in the galaxy and find themselves on an epic adventure, and we’ll be seeing it all begin very soon – and just now a bit sooner than expected.
