Skeleton Crew releases a brilliant and heartwarming new TV spot

So many of us grew up with Star Wars, spending hours imagining that we were in the stories from a galaxy far, far away. Skeleton Crew will bring that childlike longing and wonder to the screen, as showcased by a new TV spot that was released.

The spot is framed by this narration: “Remember a time when anything felt possible. What if… it was?” We see Neel and Wim pretending to duel with lightsabers (humming and all). The 30-second spot then splices together a lot of brief shots from the series, many of which we’ve seen before. We hear the kids remarking how they can go anywhere in the galaxy that they want, and then we hear Jod Na Nawood saying, “You can see grand adventures even in a rotten galaxy like this.”

That seems to be a theme that will emerge in this show, as best we can tell right now: these kids find out that the larger galaxy is a dangerous and oftentimes rotten place, but they wind up on a grand adventure that really allows them to live out many of the dreams they’ve had of being thrust into the action.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, who plays Wim, said that his character “wants to be a Jedi. He wants to help people and wield a lightsaber. He really cares for his friends, and he’s so brave and so hopeful. His imagination really carries him, and I really admire that about him. He really loves his friends, and I think that that’s awesome.”

In other words, this series is really bringing that childlike longing to be in a Star Wars adventure to Star Wars itself. And I think that’s great. It makes for a really heartwarming trailer, and I’m excited to see where the series goes with it
