Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is releasing on Disney+ on December 3, stemming from the creative minds of showrunners Jon Watts and Christopher Ford. But like with the other live-action shows in a galaxy far, far away, this series will see a team of directors bringing it to life.
Jon Watts, the showrunner who is best-known as the director of the Spider-Man trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, directed the first and last episodes of the season.
David Lowery, who worked with Jude Law while he directed Peter Pan & Wendy, makes his Star Wars debut with episodes two and three.
Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (known professionally as the Daniels), rose to prominence by directing Everything Everywhere All at Once (which won them Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay), directed episode four.
Jake Schreier makes his Star Wars directorial debut as well, having taken the director’s chair for episode five.
Bryce Dallas Howard directed episode six, having previously directed episodes in each of The Mandalorian‘s first three seasons, as well as The Book of Boba Fett. Her episodes have been some of the very best in the entire Mandalorian realm of storytelling.
Finally, Lee Isaac Chung also returns, having directed an episode on The Mandalorian season three, to direct the seventh episode of this series.
It’s a terrific lineup of directors for this show, and as part of the marketing for the series, Star Wars released a roundtable of the directors talking about their Star Wars fandom, their experience on-set, and Skeleton Crew. It’s an enjoyable listen, to get a feel for their passion for this project.
Skeleton Crew premieres on December 3 on Disney+. Showrunners Jon Watts and Christopher Ford also serve as executive producers on the series, alongside Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson – who have been executive producers on every season of the inter-connected Mandalorian shows.
