Andor season two will premiere on April 22, 2025!

Announced today at D23 Brazil, the second and final season of Andor will premiere on Disney+ on April 22, 2025.

Just like the first season this one will be comprised of twelve episodes, but unlike the first season (which spanned about a year total), the second season will cover four years – leading up to the moments directly before Rogue One. Each three-episode arc will be followed by a year time-jump.

Of note, in the new logo for the season that Star Wars released today, there is a subtitle for the series: it is called Andor: A Star Wars Story. That’s really interesting, as that was the subtitle used for the non-Skywalker films, Rogue One and Solo, but that hasn’t been used since. It was originally created to distinguish these anthology stories from the ‘main’ saga, but since these shows have been branching off in various directions the label hasn’t been used. I wonder if this signals the return of it, or more likely in my mind, this subtitle is being used to tie in to Rogue One, which is also labeled A Star Wars Story.

It will release on April 22, which will be right after the conclusion of Star Wars Celebration, taking place April 18-20 in Japan. I’m guessing that means that Andor will be a major focus for Celebration next year (obviously so, since the remainder of the year looks right now to be far quieter), probably even premiering the first episode(s) early for attendees.

The first season of Andor was incredibly well-received and is often considered the best Star Wars live-action series to-date, so the second season is highly anticipated. Tony Gilroy serves as the series showrunner, while Diego Luna (Cassian Andor) leads a fantastic cast of characters bringing the story of the rebellion against the Empire to life.
