The story trailer for the upcoming video game Star Wars Outlaws was released on Tuesday, with pre-orders going live alongside an announcement that the game will be releasing on August 30, 2024.
The game is being billed as “the first-ever open world Star Wars game” and is being developed by Ubisoft. The story is set in the period in-between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and follows the scum and villainy of the galaxy. The game’s protagonist, Kay Vess, works alongside her trusted team as she works for various criminal syndicates on jobs trying to find her place in the galaxy – and, ultimately, find freedom. The setting for the game makes a lot of sense, as the comics have recently told the story of a war between the criminal syndicates during the period, sparked by a fight for the carbonite-frozen body of Han Solo. We see Solo show up in the trailer, as well as Jabba the Hutt, whom Kay has an audience with. Familiar locations – like Cantonica – show up too, and the trailer teases that Kay and her work are more significant to the syndicates than they knew.
The trailer looks really good, but it’s still light on some details as to what to fully expect. It won’t be too much longer before we’re able to play it, though, even though the Gold and Ultimate Editions are ridiculously priced. But it looks like an enjoyable story and like it’ll be a blast to play. Take a look at the story trailer below!
