At San Diego Comic Con recently, we got some new information about Star Wars Outlaws, the upcoming open world game being developed by Massive Entertainment.
The game is set in-between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, at a time where the Galactic Civil War is drawing the attention of the Empire and the galaxy – leaving the criminal syndicates in flux. It is in this period that a young scoundrel named Kay Vess makes her way on to the scene, and that’s where the story will pick up. The player will get to explore the galaxy as Kay, who is a relative unknown at the start of the game – but whose actions can bring her into increased notoriety with the syndicates.
Though the release date is still a while away (it’s slated to come out sometime in 2024), we’ve had a lot of information about the game that’s been revealed this summer. That’s involved an initial trailer, a gameplay trailer, and now a behind the scenes video looking at how the game is being brought to life. It features interviews with some of the developers involved, and they speak to creating an open world game in the Star Wars galaxy. The video gives a particular amount of attention to the brand new world of Toshara, created specifically for this game with the scoundrel world in mind.
