We have yet to get any confirmation that Jacen Syndulla will be in the Ahsoka series, but an upcoming LEGO set might have revealed his new look for the show.
There’s a new set of the Ghost and Phantom II coming on September 1 that’s now up for pre-order on the LEGO site, and, well, it’s an immediate must-buy for me. I love the ship and the design for this set looks awesome, and I can’t wait until it comes out. But what’s especially notable are the minifigures that come with it. There’s General Hera Syndulla and Chopper, of course, and then there are two New Republic officers: a human named First Officer Hawkins, and a Mon Calamari named Lt. Beyta. But there’s one more minifigure included as well: Jacen Syndulla.
He was first introduced in the epilogue of Star Wars Rebels, seen as a child with his mother, Hera, in the cockpit of the Ghost. The son of Hera and the late Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus, Jacen was “born to fly, just like his mother”, according to Sabine Wren’s narration of that scene. In the show, Jacen is a human but sports green hair, which was no doubt an attempt to convey the lineage of both his father and mother. But the LEGO minifigure has him sporting dark brown hair, which might reflect a change in how he’ll appear in Ahsoka.

I think it makes sense, as the green hair would probably be far more off-putting when translated to live-action than it is in animation, where even then it was met with mixed reviews. But not only does it make sense from a purely practical standpoint, it also can be easily explained in-universe too – since, after all, people changing hair colors isn’t exactly rare. My favorite fan theory is that Sabine had a role in dying it green, and that it was just a temporary thing and that his hair is normally brown. But given Sabine’s love for painting, and the inevitable adolescent desire to experiment with things like this, that would be a perfectly reasonable explanation.
Whatever the case, I don’t mind the change at all. Maybe most exciting is that this would seem to suggest Jacen will in fact be in Ahsoka, which will be awesome if true.
