The latest animated Star Wars show will be getting more new episodes soon, as Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures will have 25 episodes in total during its first season.
The show premiered on May 4 with the first seven episodes, and it was recently announced that four more episodes will be coming on August 2 to Disney+ and Disney Junior. There will be even more new episodes to come later in the year.
The series is aimed at younger kids and is set in the High Republic era, making it the first Star Wars show to be set in the era first created for publishing (The Acolyte will also be set toward the very end of the era). It follows a group of Jedi younglings – Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and the ever-lovable Nubs – as well as their friends (the pilot Nash Durango and her droid RJ-83) as they explore the galaxy and train in the ways of the Force, including from none other than Grand Master Yoda himself.
There was a thirty-second trailer released showcasing the upcoming episodes:
It’s a cute and fun show that is designed to introduce a new generation of fans to the franchise, and it’s exciting to think about how younger viewers might first be introduced to this High Republic period. But even though this show is clearly designed with younger viewers in mind, it’s one that is enjoyable for all fans of the franchise to watch. I’m also glad to see Star Wars animation continuing; with the riveted focus in recent years on live-action content at Disney the place of animation has been left a bit uncertain at times, but to see this series (and The Bad Batch) continuing are exciting and encouraging.
The series is helmed by showrunner Michael Olson and executive produced by Olson, James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, and Josh Rimes, It stars the voice talents of Jamaal Avery, Jr., Juliet Donenfeld, Dee Bradley Baker, Emma Berman, Trey Murphy, Jonathan Lipow, Nasi\m Pedrad, and Piotr Michael.
