First gameplay trailer for Star Wars Outlaws released!

Yesterday a brand new Star Wars video game was announced, as Outlaws will be coming in 2024.

The game, developed by Ubisoft, follows Kay Vess as she pulls heists and tries to survive in a galaxy where the crime syndicates hold significant power. The open-world game, hailed as the first such Star Wars game, is set in-between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and an announcement trailer was released on Sunday.

Today, just a day later, we got our first look at the gameplay. In a ten-minute video, we see Kay on a mission trying to steal something from the Pyke Syndicate on the planet Toshara. We get to see several components of the game, including stealth, blaster fire, a speeder chase, and flying in space, as well as some story moments. We see Kay have run-ins with the Pykes and the Empire, and it all sets the stage for what the game will be about. Kay is taking missions trying to make some credits and survive in the galaxy, and we’ve now gotten the chance to see one such mission. Plenty more are ahead.

Check out the gameplay trailer:

The game will release sometime in 2024 on XBox X|S, Playstation 5, and PC. After just hearing about it for the first time yesterday, it’s great to see a lot more about it today. We’ve all become used to announcements about games (or related projects) being so far out that there’s no real guarantee it’ll be finished, but to see a game announced with an epic trailer, then followed up with a gameplay walkthrough, is a tremendous sign that this game is far enough along that we can start getting hyped about it.
