It was announced today that the series premiere of Ahsoka will be released on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 23!
Accompanying the release date announcement was a thirty-second teaser. Most of the footage included we had already seen in the first teaser trailer, but it also included some glimpses of Sabine Wren wielding Ezra Bridger’s lightsaber in combat against Shin Hati. This was seen in the exclusive footage shown at Star Wars Celebration this spring, but now it’s been made publicly available – and it’s beautiful.
Ahsoka is a series set in The Mandalorian timeline dealing with the long-awaited return of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren go off in search of the lost Jedi Ezra Bridger, but wind up in what will surely be a galaxy-defining adventure. The series is helmed by Dave Filoni and executive produced by Filoni, Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Carrie Beck, and Colin Wilson. It stars Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera Syndulla), Ray Stevenson (Baylan Skoll), Ivanna Sakhno (Shin Hati), and plenty more, including Lars Mikkelson as Thrawn.
It won’t be too much longer before we see this series, which is one of my most anticipated Star Wars projects in a long time. It’ll be dropping on Disney+ on August 23, a little over two months from now.
